05 Aug 2009 | : Laser Assisted Liposuction
Newer ways of fat removal involve the use of laser technology in liposuction. Laser assisted liposuction is different from the traditional liposuction technique in that it uses laser energy to melt away the fat into a more liquid form so that it could be sucked out of the body. According to medical experts, the laser energy also causes the skin to tighten as fat is eliminated from particular problem areas. As fat is changed into a more manageable form, it is easier removed without much bruising or swelling. The speed by which a patient often recovers from laser assisted liposuction makes it a more popular choice among those who wish to contour their bodies.
Just like other surgical procedures, liposuction using laser energy presents side effects. There are health considerations that you should look out for. Check with your doctor to see if you are physically fit to undergo laser assisted liposuction. The procedure is relatively safe, with the risks increasing depending on the amount of fat tissues that are removed. The more fat that is removed, the greater the risk. Taking out more fat than recommended also has visible changes in skin appearance. Liposuction through laser is an approved surgical procedure by the US Food and Drugs Administration. There are only three laser assisted liposuction systems in the US that are available for consumer use. Most problem areas that patients elect to have treated through liposuction include the abdomen, arms, buttocks, and thighs.
